Cafiver Takes Part in the Prestigious National Jury of the Cup of Excellence Mexico 2025!

Orizaba, Ver. – The Ex Convento de San José de Gracia has become the epicenter of Mexican coffee excellence! The much-anticipated National Jury of the Cup of Excellence Mexico 2025 phase began with great expectation, a world-class event organized by ANICAFÉ in collaboration with the Orizaba City Government.

Among the 12 expert cuppers rigorously selected for this prestigious evaluation, the participation of Marcelo Ramírez Panzo, head of Cupping at CAFIVER, stands out. He brings his refined palate and extensive experience in identifying exceptional sensory profiles.

For CAFIVER, it is an honor to be part of this select jury, which is responsible for identifying the best coffees in Mexico. Every cup represents the effort, dedication, and passion of Mexican producers.

A world-class event

During these intense days, the panel will evaluate coffees of extraordinary quality from the country's main producing regions. The coffees compete in three categories that showcase the best of Mexico:

• Traditional Washed

• Traditional Naturals and Honeys

• Experimental Processes

The entire process is carried out under the expert guidance of the renowned Scott Conary, an international judge with more than 20 years of experience in the specialty coffee world, who ensures compliance with the rigorous standards of the Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE).

An elite team behind the event

The impeccable organization is led by the experienced Sylvia Gutiérrez, who has led the transformation of the historic Ex Convento into a first-rate sensory laboratory. The technical team includes master roasters Jorge Sotomayor and Rudy Altamirano, who ensure the optimal development of each bean for evaluation, while specialists Araceli Martínez and Jorge Luis Martínez Marín meticulously oversee the selection and classification of the samples.

Next steps

Coffees that exceed the minimum score of 86 points will advance to the international phase, to be held May 12–16, also in the beautiful city of Orizaba. There, an international panel of 24 elite judges will determine the winners of this 12th edition of the Cup of Excellence Mexico.
