Reforestation in Villas Pico, Veracruz

We reforest the mountains of Veracruz

In 2025 we planted 2,400 Oyamel fir trees in Villas Pico, in the municipality of La Perla, Veracruz — beating the previous year's record. An annual event where employees, staff, and the local community work together to strengthen the ecosystems of the Veracruz mountains and leave a positive mark on the environment around us.

El Porvenir community, Zongolica

We support the people who make every cup possible

Since 2020, CAFIVER has promoted the well-being of the El Porvenir community in Zongolica through the "Adopt a Community" project. Rehabilitation of community spaces, access to technology, computer training, and a vegetable production module — because our responsibility goes beyond the plant.

We operate under ethical and environmental standards

From solar panels to using coffee grounds as thermal energy, every operational decision at CAFIVER aims to reduce our environmental footprint. 80% of the energy in our industrial processes comes from renewable sources, and we keep adding actions that show producing well and producing responsibly go hand in hand.

Energy transition

Solar energy for a more sustainable operation

Since 2019, CAFIVER has invested in solar panel systems to power the Coffee Service café and offices. More than an operational improvement, this initiative reflects a different way of understanding our production: operating responsibly also means transforming how we obtain and use energy.

Thanks to this investment, we have achieved a savings of 41% in electricity consumption in these areas, equivalent to a reduction of 27 tCO2e in carbon emissions each year. A tangible result that strengthens our commitment to an increasingly efficient and sustainable operation.

Energy efficiency

Greater steam efficiency, lower emissions

In 2021, CAFIVER invested in modernizing its steam generators, essential equipment for our industrial processes. The goal was to use natural gas more efficiently and reduce the environmental impact associated with its consumption.

The technology upgrade increased gas-burning efficiency by 14% per year, which translates into a mitigation of 773 tCO2e in emissions per year. These improvements happen inside our plant, but their impact goes beyond our processes: producing coffee responsibly also means making every stage of its transformation more efficient.

Circular economy

From spent grounds to energy: making use of what we produce

At CAFIVER, we look to make use of our resources beyond their original purpose. Spent coffee grounds—the solid residue left after the extraction process—are fed back into the production cycle as an energy source.

Through their use, we generate thermal energy efficiently and sustainably. Currently, the 19% of our total thermal energy comes from this process, representing savings of 3,290 tCO2e per year. In this way, we reduce our dependence on other energy sources and turn a coffee byproduct into a valuable resource within our own operation.
